The Greek text did not contain the “definite article ‘the’ ” as mistakenly translated in the King James Version…so Jesus did NOT say “I am ‘the’ son of God.” …nor did he say he was “a son of God.” (In Greek, they do not have the “indefinite article ‘a' “ al-though English does, for examples, at John 10:13, 20--21, 33, 41; Acts 28:6) If you go online to access to a NT Greek-English Interlinear Version, you will notice Jesus' answer: “Son of God I am.”> at John 10:36."
Aspire to understand the nature of God. Jesus wasn't 'special' but God is.

even if I have some issues with the idea of a literal hell. I'm not a fundie after all.
jesus spoke more about hell than anyone because he created the place, as a matter of fact he spoke more about hell than heaven because sadly its were most ppl are headed and yes its a literal place
A loving God does not cast his creatures into a fiery pit to burn in agony for eternity. The idea that he does lends credence to Gnosticism - which I was once into and the influence remains.
If God is an asshole, as Gnostics think, it makes sense he'd throw his own creation into a fiery pit forever. But if God is love as more conventional Christianity teaches - then it would be a contradiction for him to do that.
Being raised a mainline Protestant I was taught to seek refuge in metaphor. They say the mainline leads to atheism. Maybe so. But fundamentalism does too as it just doesn't make sense.

Is the “demiurge” of the Old Testament the same one as in the New Testament? I’m not so sure. There seems to be a disconnect between the jealous wrathful God who wiped out humanity and went to war for the Israelites (His chosen people), punishing them when they disobeyed, and the peaceful, merciful, loving God that shows up later on wanting to redeem everyone (not just the jews) back to Him.
Ever consider He is what He says He is, loving in that He accepts those who trust Him and come to Him humbly, and just in that He punishes the wicked who deny Him and refuse His provision?

Anything that divides or is used to divide us is jew-ish behavior.

Btw you are reading a mistranslated bible.
It's "I'm A son of God", not "I'm THE son of God"
Some bibles will print the 'the' in italics, people mistakenly assume this is to add emphasis. It in fact denotes an ambiguous translation.

Looks like a "the" to me.
"Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?"
But even if it wasn't there are plenty of passages where He is clearly the only begotten son of God and divine.

"in the beginning is the word and the word is to God and god is the word"...
So you quoted a completely irrelevant part of the bible, a part that's nothing to do with Jesus being a son of God...
Then I read the Greek as written in 'English'
"en archi in o logos kai o logos in pros ton theon kai theos in o logos"
The universe is truly mental isn't it 😉

It's not in the beginning there was the word...that's a mistranslation
