Yup. Tithing isn't for church leadership to get filthy rich. It for the bills, congregation, and charity stuff. Sometimes leadership gets a small cut, sometimes not, but it shouldn't be make them filthy rich like some churches out there.

Edit: Its a valid complaint, but a middle school level argument.

the implication here is that the church does nothing. basically this is saying "give us your money for our needs, while you just go pray for what you need". this is a false dichotomy. we support the church precisely because the church indeed does things for us. the church provides Sunday service, fellowship, bible studies, prayer groups, access to the sacraments, etc.

i think the creator of this meme is only showing their ignorance of anything Christian, and probably isn't really involved in any church at all.

I think you're deliberately missing the point if you don't recognize this is referring to material things it can do. I doubt most churches would help a widowed mother pay her power bill.

This is where the fellowship and community, created by the church, comes in to play. Church isn't for redistribution of funds. Any organization, religious or not, needs to pay for the physical property and upkeep/maintenance/utilities. Belonging to an organization means financially supporting that org through dues or free will donations.

Also, I don't know of any legit church that REQUIRES any member to pay anything for attending.
