I was there for the transformation from carbureted to fuel injection and I thought it was going to be awesome. In truth, for awhile it sort of was but now it's just gone too far and I dream of carburetors again.

I didn't mind the TBI's and could even stomach Multi port, I think it was somewhere around 2004 that it went rogue.

Varying qualities of fuel don't help with fuel injection, some brands have such a small amount of detergents in their mix that you're just asking to clog all your injectors, add to that short trips that don't allow the engine to run at optimal temps for long enough and you're just slowly killing it.

Starting a few months back, all gasoling grades in Canada were forced to add at least 10% ethanol... I have to run that in my 6.0L Vortec HO, it's a fucking sacrilege.

That shit is a cancer. Thankfully we have no-eth option here, even if it's more expensive than the expensive gas. It's required for my motorcycle, boat, and lawn mower. All carbureted.

I appreciate Kwik Trip. Outside of major cities their premium is 91 non-oxy (ethanol free). My turbo is never happier than a fresh full tank.

Yeah that's around the time they came up with "direct injection". So now you have an added expensive mechanical fuel pump to build the high pressure, expensive injectors that require programming when replaced and worst of all massive carbon build up in the intake ports due to no fuel there to wash over the valves. All for what?

I've seen a couple of these before. I used to have a Datsun diesel and I could drive forever on a tank of fuel. It was a good little truck until the cancer(rust) set in. I keep my eyes peeled for vehicles like this and make an offer if they are fixable. I will let all of you in on a little secret. If you can get your hands on an 80's Suzuki Samarai then get it. They are a machine. They go like a fuckin tank and are great on gas and even though they are little they are very comfortable, even for a tall guy like myself.
