If the guy says anything to him, he strengthens their case against him.

The case is weak IMO. According to the article, he doesn’t say that he will shoot Chitwood, he is just espousing a theoretical course of action, but not saying he would follow it and doesn’t seem to be coaxing anyone else to do it.

Well I'm not on the jury. But my statement stands. If you threaten violence towards someone. It should be a crime. I'm sure if someone threatened to kill you or your family. You would want the police to take it seriously.
