Poal content generators are bragging about "internet points". No wonder the site is moribund and driving people off

Poal has potential but they shit on posters by hiding original content and instantly removing it from "new" content, leaving only content posted by the several few that admin and moderate the site. Really crappy way to run a message convo board.

It's actually worse. AOU deletes your karma, you can't see any usernames. You have no idea who started a thread or who replies to you. You can't post to default subs. You can only make one comment every 20 minutes. You can't upvote or downvote anything. You can't vote in polls. You can't search. You can't view a user profile. It's far more restricted than reddit

You can't even type 'talk.lol' on Poal. You can't even type 'imgur.com'. I suspect there are other sites you can't mention.

For a tagline of 'say what you want', they sure do like restricting speech.

Pointing that out will get you banned. Well, it got me effectively banned. I think they may have wanted to ban me for a while, given the immediacy of the threat and then the account manipulation.

If he's reading that, I wonder what else he's reading.

I have been reasonably convinced that he reads PMs due to some comments I've seen. I'd not be surprised to find out that passwords are intercepted or not stored in hashed/salted (encrypted) form. I should probably spin up an instance of the software they use to check that, but I'm lazy, busy, or apathetic. Fuck 'em. It's their loss. At least a couple of people have already followed me over. I doubt they'll spend much time back there. I expect at least a few more people to follow us.

Amusingly, the guitar thread will do better here anyhow - probably. It certainly looks like it will.

I said that this site had more unique users and 3 minutes later had the happy merchant tag. Called out AOJew who said renting a property for life is better than buying and owning. I laughed at such a dumb take as paying your own mortgage is clearly better than paying someone else's. My points was set to zero and couldn't post anywhere shortly afterwards. Waiting for the password change

It'd probably be pretty easy to get their hosting canceled, but I'm not petty like that. I don't mind being banned so much as him making shit up to ban me for. I don't even really mind that, I just think it's pretty pathetic.

Hell, look at how well the 'moving the FNGT' thread has done. It's got a ton fo votes and a ton of comments, all from a simple topic of moving the FNGT to talk.lol. If that's any indication, we'll do just fine here as a guitar thread. We had the thread here last Friday and did surprisingly well as far as comments go.

So, that's all I really care about. We've had the FNGT for more than five years now. It'd be a shame to end it now. Though I do hope more folks volunteer their time over here. We really need a third (active) moderator to do things like archive and open threads once in a while. Doing it with just two people is taxing.

Takes some asshole to talk about free speech and ban everyone. But the karma is there's very few users there. Look at the front page, most posts will be from the same 3 users/bots and no comments
