Gun control is NOT racist. Don't let people keep pushing this stupid revision of history.

I've seen this "gun control is racist" argument a lot on pro-gun forums. Keeping guns away from murder monkeys is sensible, and some historical gun control attempted to do that, but our federal gun control laws are decidedly not racist. In fact they're the opposite since the MLK assassination was a major impetus to getting the GCA act passed in 1968, the killing preceding the law by only 6 months. The shooters were also varying shades of white.

Each major federal law was passed in the wake of some high-profile killings. These killings were so hyped that they are today essential American folk knowledge.

Valentine's Day Massacre: 1929

NFA passed: 1934

FFA passed: 1938

Assassination of JFK: 1963

Assassination of MLK: 1968

Assassination of Robert Kennedy: 1968

GCA passed: 1968

Attempted assassination of Reagan: 1981

FOPA passed (with Hughes amendment): 1986

Yeah, it's kind of a dumb argument and a red herring. What "gun control" is, is an unconstitutional infringement of our God given inalienable rights.

If the point is to keep guns out of the hands of murder monkeys then no matter how reasonable it is it is racist. It’s just that racism is sensible in this case. To argue differently is to adopt the mind of a liberal where a core part of words meaning is whether they are positive or negative words. You are arguing because it can make sense it can’t be racist because racism is a negative word and you want your idea to be considered positively. But words don’t work that way. Racism independent of positivity or negativity has an objective meaning, and if the goal is to keep something out of the hands of a particular race on the basis that they have differences inherent to them as s race then it is objectively racist.
