Affordable method for making your own laundry detergent. The comment about making a powdered version is excellent but the lady who wrote it doesn't know about paragraphs so read at your own discretion. :)

The same commenter does say if you go with the liquid version the woman in the video demonstrates, use less water for a cleaner and better-smelling wash.

That shade of lipstick just isn't working for her. The advantage of being a solid brunette is that most colors look good on you...except that one.

and her water is that hot because someone cranked up the water heater or adjusted the unit higher than what's recommended. It's nice to have that HOT water but it's expensive and inefficient. It takes a long time to get it up to temp and more gas/electricity to keep it there.

Women who wear that color are 99% of the time coal burners. The other 1% are goth/satan lovers. 100% of the time avoid these women at all costs.

Commercially available laundry detergent is pretty powerful, you usually don't need anywhere near what the manufacturer suggests if your clothes are just normal "Day at the office" dirty.

Cut back on the amount you use with each wash, and observe if your clothes still get clean. You may find that you can get away with 1/4 of the amount "suggested" by the manufacturer.

Agreed, though I am pretty sure I use less than 1/4. I don't even measure, just a quick drizzle of a circle before loading the clothes.

I probably wind up with a tablespoon or two in the soap drawer. I can usually make a container of liquid last nearly a year.

My wife and I haven't used ANY detergent in two decades. There is something way better and way cheaper and hypoallergenic.

Or you could just use some liquid soap. Why make it so hard?

I grate any old bar of soap. It all works the same to me. I have one jar with soap, one jar with borax and one with washing soda. A spoonful of each in the wash. I use very hot water because I don't like superbugs, and it makes me feel better whether hot kills them or not.

Peroxide soap kills some, and bleach others.

Really like the hairstyle Needlestack!
what the heck is zote?

Zote is laundry bar soap, the stuff you'd have used before automatic washers were available. It still works just as well as it did for great-grandma.

Leave the bar in the freezer overnight so it's easier to shred.

Also, I skimmed the video and I didn't see her do it, but add a little borax powder -- about 2 Tbsp per gallon.

Ooo, I like that idea but there just isn't room next to my heart and besides even if there were, black and pink don't look good together.
