How the hell do you paste a photo so that small image shows up next to the post ??

I am trying to post so that a small image of a photo shows up in the feed next to the post. I have been trying:
1. login
2. hit "share a link"
3. go to catbox.moe and upload a jpeg photo
4. copy that link into the "link" line
5. add a title
6. post
what am I doing wrong?

Looking at the last few posts from you prior to this, one is a pdf and the other jfif.

Try using another image format like JPG or PNG and I'll bet the preview shows up in the feed.
