Daily Pushups

submitted by SecretHitler to GoatFitnessClub 1 yearMar 15, 2023 19:30:37 ago (+19/-0)     (GoatFitnessClub)

Started pushups again the other day so I thought I'd get these threads going too.

Be strong, feel proud. Post yours in the comments.

This morning I did 10 push-ups and planked for 120+ seconds. Great start to the day.

Keep those elbows in, fellas. If your form looks like you're trying to hang a tv on the wall then it's all wrong.

Elbows in, thumbs covering your nipples when you reach the bottom. Hold each position for 2 seconds at least, so your momentum doesn't help you. Down 1, 2, up, 1, 2, down, 1, 2, up. Do 30 in a row like this.

Nice, although they seem to love to call them "CoC grippers" and it had to have been a faggot at the marketing helm. Interesting none the less.

I have those ones that are on spinning plates, hard to do when you have to stabilize them.

used to do 40 sets of ten on knuckles in the military. alternating sets of situps and curls with 100 lbs.

[ - ] anrach 0 points 1 yearMar 16, 2023 01:42:06 ago (+0/-0)

For you guys pumping out 50-100 pushups a day, you might want to consider slowing them down. A slow pushup achieves more muscle activation (thus potential growth) and is easier on the joints and tendons to boot. If your ego protests, just remind yourself that you're stronger if you can do a set of 25 slow pushups than doing 50 at twice the speed.

[ - ] SecretHitler [op] 1 point 1 yearMar 16, 2023 10:02:23 ago (+1/-0)

That's the plan for me. I wanted 100 a day, but now instead of raising the number I want to maintain it while working on perfect form and slowing them down.

[ - ] TheBigGuyFromQueens 0 points 1 yearMar 16, 2023 00:59:02 ago (+0/-0)

Pushups are so basic. Your ass will never get bulbous and be a big hit on instagram and onlyfans. You need to do gerbil clenches.

[ - ] JudyStroyer 0 points 1 yearMar 16, 2023 09:15:29 ago (+0/-0)

Pfft, a gerbil? I upgraded to whole vietnamese ladies! (Please note the plurality)

[ - ] usedoilanalysis 0 points 1 yearMar 16, 2023 10:42:52 ago (+0/-0)

Pushups are good for your chest, and triceps, pull ups for core strength, weighted stair climbs for legs and cardio. Curls for biceps.

Been doing cold showers. Looking into buying a big trashcan or stock tank for an ice bath.

[ - ] JudyStroyer 1 point 1 yearMar 16, 2023 09:27:59 ago (+1/-0)

If you have either a boat or rv shop nearby, go ask for one of those blue hdpe 55 gallon drums. They get antifreeze (the non toxic kind) for winterizing that shit and will often just give that shit away because they end up with so many. Just cut the top off and itll last a lifetime.

[ - ] MaryXmas 0 points 1 yearMar 16, 2023 23:57:43 ago (+0/-0)

Thank you. I am looking into 100 gallon but may revisit your suggestion.

[ - ] Belfuro 0 points 1 yearMar 15, 2023 22:36:17 ago (+0/-0)

God too commanded me to get fit.

60 push-ups per day. (subduing my wife in a play fight is now rediculously easy then fun really begins lol)
60 sit ups. (dang my back has never felt stronger)
10 leg squats. (OK needs work)

My elbow joints are not what they were to that pull ups hurt like they never used to. Not sure what to do there.

Need to run or similar. Knees hate it. Been walking a lot more but not enough.

Will keep growing.

The time of no power then a global cataclysm is coming. Can sense it.

Are you ready?

[ - ] JudyStroyer 0 points 1 yearMar 16, 2023 09:34:31 ago (+0/-0)

As far as your elbows hurting, have you tried to swap from either palm facing aways from you, to palm facing you? Or even changing the distance between your hands on the bar, you may find some position that makes the pain go away. As far as running, try doing burpees or mountain climbers or 8ct body builders instead. Ellipticals work for reducing knee pain, but I cant stand those fucking things.

[ - ] SecretHitler [op] 0 points 1 yearMar 16, 2023 10:19:40 ago (+0/-0)

That's a great daily routine

elbow joints
I wouldn't even fuck with pullups if you have elbow pain. I had an injury from that and it was a huge setback. One thing that helps is don't extend your arms all the way, leave a very small bend in them. When you fully hang it stretches out the elbow joint and there's also a moment where momentum catches and you're basically putting more force than your entire body weight directly on those joints.

run or similar
I like running. A fun sport can be great for cardio and especially intense team sports are good for beefing up your testosterone and aggression. Hiking is great, the benefit of nature can't be understated. Punching a heavy bag is another great one and will wear you tf out.

Is @GrayDragon still doing his?

[ - ] SilentByAssociation 0 points 1 yearMar 15, 2023 21:56:21 ago (+0/-0)

Lately I've gotten back into planking for at least 60 seconds in the morning.

And I'm getting back into macebell/gada tomorrow morning. Just using a sledgehammer I have, but it's invigorating.

Haven't done push ups in a while... I'll see what I can do.

[ - ] ToNigIsToNog 0 points 1 yearMar 15, 2023 21:59:31 ago (+0/-0)

macebells. I have a 5 for flexibility / warm up, 15 for normal, and 40 for strength. love these things.

[ - ] boxslowly 0 points 1 yearMar 16, 2023 07:08:54 ago (+0/-0)

I'm curious. I had a trainer and he also had me planking. Why is planking better than pushups, isn't it the same thing with the added benefit of increasing arm strength at the same time?

[ - ] JudyStroyer 1 point 1 yearMar 16, 2023 09:44:16 ago (+1/-0)

Its not "better" than push up per se, but it is a better option for when people for whatever reason either cant do pushups, or shouldnt. You get some of the benefits to your core without arm/shoulder issues. Some people have a hard time doing a proper pushup, and planking can sort of train your body to do a proper (body kept flat) pushup, while the arm and chest benefits are realized elsewhere such as bench/chest presses etc.

[ - ] SecretHitler [op] 0 points 1 yearMar 16, 2023 10:21:50 ago (+0/-0)

Planks are great, and 60 seconds+ is a solid plank.

[ - ] BoozyB 0 points 1 yearMar 15, 2023 20:09:46 ago (+0/-0)

Regular pushups bore me and they take too long. I do a variation of a diamond pushup.
Closed fists on the floor with extended thumbs almost touching, feet wide to make a stable triangle and positioned so when I lower my body my bottom rib touches my wrists. 20-25 reps.

[ - ] SecretHitler [op] 0 points 1 yearMar 15, 2023 20:10:48 ago (+0/-0)

How many did you do today?

[ - ] BoozyB 1 point 1 yearMar 15, 2023 20:29:09 ago (+1/-0)*

20 today.
I can't do a flat hand pushup because I have range of motion issues with my wrists. Using my fists is my only option.

I used to have to do that too. Not sure what made it better, something fixed it.

Fist pushups are great though. Definitely a little harder than the regular ones.
