Anyone know how to make my slicer program put brims on parts?

I haven't tried the rafts yet (and I also didn't see an option for them), but wouldn't the layer beneath the item ostensibly cause unwanted adhesion and therefore possibly cause an unclean break for the desired part, which would cause unwanted damage to it.
