There's more complexitity so there's now two chances it could break instead of one causing people to buy a new one or sending it back so the company can 'refurbish' it and sell it again and again.

They serve different purposes. Trigger close closes jaw. Trigger open opens jaw. The grip trigger can override this and cancel the close.

Is that right? I stopped following AvE a while back. When Patreon lost a lot of business after banning Sargon of Akkad, he backed Patreon.
