The gas station near my house has an insane soda fountain setup. Pretty much any drink you want. I stop there if I'm going on a long drive and get me a giant soda for the road.

Yeah, there are half a dozen Mountain Dews. But, the best one is "normal" Mountain Dew with a some peach flavor syrup added. Coconut is also good.

I would say Gnosticism, however, since it is considered heresy despite being pre-catholic, expect to read discriptions of what it is blended with what it isn't. Check out the Nag Hammadi Library and read the actual documents.

Unfortunately I know nothing about the Gnostics and I have a question for you. I was recently speaking with a proudly conservative Brother in one of the orders. He was pretty far out there but very open to challenging questions and I brought up how the Church restricts the books that layman are allowed to read, Index librorum prohibitorum. I asked him if this was an old antiquated guideline or if it should still be followed. He did the usual run around and then looked me right in the eye and said “The only ones that You really need to stay away from are the Gnostics.” He was pretty weird about it and I couldn’t tell if he was trying to encourage me to read them or to discourage me.

Any opinions on that? Is it worth spending three months of my life going through it? I think I have to make a post with this question now.

Christ did not make an organization. He did not make denominations. There's your first step. Any "church" that is part of a larger organization is not part of the church that Christ died for and made. These central organizations that "run" all their churches is where these organizations get jewed.
Find yourself a church that is not associated with an organization, that is made up of people in the community and they are the ones making decisions.
That's the way it was originally done. That's the way Christ intended it to be.
I would suggest looking in small towns in the south anywhere along the bible belt.
