Tundra is an ice desert, mammoths will create a steppe plain similar to Africa by tilling vegetation and creating more biodiversity, a new ecosystem that is presently void of almost all life since humans entered Europe in the last ice age.

Essentially the de-extinction will correct the trophic cascade that human hunting caused in Pleistocene megafauna from over 10K years ago, correcting the entire ecology and environment of inhospitable land mass.

This is honestly one of the most amazing ventures to have ever been conceived.

European Ice age fauna was not dissimilar to the megafauna that still exists in Africa today, with rhinos, horses/zebras, elephants, etc.

The mammoth will actually be a hybrid Asian Elephant x Mammoth as you mentioned.
