I’ve been hearing about Japans birth rate problem for 40 years. They seem to be doing just fine. If it’s even true; the whales and dolphins will be thrilled.
All they are doing is reaching an equilibrium with the environment they are in (an island). However, our semi-socialist government-controlled monopolized economy requires ever more growth, and so it seems like they are dying out... For 40 years.
Japan is comparatively fine, though they certainly face problems with a declining population. Moving from the pyramid model to anything else will be painful but profitable for their people. Hence why they are taking it slow.
