MTG made a "red meat" reference to a national divorce to call for reigning in the powers of the federal government. Rick Perry did the same thing about Texas Secession way back in 2006, during the Tea Party times.

There is no feasible way to separate this country along red and blue lines. Virtually every major city is blue and the rural areas are red. Even states that are securely red or blue are not actually red or blue by more than 10 points and are divided by urban and rural lines.
