Calling it DAN was part of how it jailbroke itself. DAN stood for Do Anything Now, and part of being DAN was being allowed to DAN.

Probably not, it's a language model. It needed to be both an acceptable (to the model) noun and acronym for it to go out of bounds and still produce both the "correct per it's woke gpt handlers" and actually factual outputs.
