What Happens If You Don't Eat For 5 Days?

This doctor (Sten Ekberg) has made several good videos on health and longevity issues that Ive seen. His an ex-olympian

He explains how fasting is beneficial and even touches on some of the signaling pathways involved in longevity research without getting too technical.
Its about 30 min but worth it if you are focused on improving your health.

I've gone 5 days without eating, and longer, on multiple occasions. Of course, I was a meth user back then so not eating just went along with it.

How old were you when you used meth?

Most of the longest lived people all of the planet have varied diets. Some higher carb, some lower carb.

What they all have in common is low stress, a purpose in life(kids/religion), moderate and consistent exercise and plenty of fresh air.

Ekberg is a keto guy, it's popular, went from fat is bad, to trans fat, to say fat, to sugar, to seed oils, to now carbs bad. There's jews in every aspect of these fads.

I say just eat what your ancestors ate and is minimally processed. Most goyslop is wheat, corn syrup, soy oil and flavour enhancers. So avoid things like that and you should be good.

Ive been researching longevity lately and I agree there are lots of jews pushing fads. But I think its worth trying some of these strategies including some moderate fasting. Some drugs that regulate the signaling pathways that are affected by fasting have been shown to extend life and brain health.

I dont know if I could go 5 days though.

I've gone 7 days, but I think for me, the optimal length for the benefits that I'm looking for, mainly autophagy, stem cell production, immune system reset, and tissue regeneration, is usually 2-4 days.

Wow 7! Do you take any calories at all during that time? What do you consider fasting? If I were to have 100 calories of fruit juice or milk over the course of the day would that still count? What do you think a reasonable threshold is to get the beneficial effects.

[ - ] I_am_baal 1 point 1.3 yearsFeb 26, 2023 19:48:07 ago (+1/-0)

Personally, I've found that I get the best results when I don't eat anything at all during a fast, just water. I like to load up on nutrient dense food for a week or two before-hand and another week or two afterwards, stuff with a lot of vitamins, collagen, protein, etc. I've experimented with taking supplements and bone broth during a fast, but for the most part, it just doesn't yield the same results. Electrolytes and minerals don't seem to have any diminishing effect though, and I haven't done a whole lot of experimenting with it, but CBD oil seems to be alright to take during a fast, kratom too. If anything has calories in it, the general recommendation is to keep it under 45 calories/day. I would say, just experiment, and see what happens. Everyone's a little different.

Just like when the rubber biscuit bounces off the wall, you go hungry.

[ - ] RRook 1 point 1.3 yearsFeb 27, 2023 01:01:56 ago (+1/-0)

I don't have any obligations for the next 7 days. I think this post helped me decide to water fast for 5 days starting right now.

[ - ] PostWallHelena [op] 2 points 1.3 yearsFeb 27, 2023 09:18:49 ago (+2/-0)

Ok! Do you mean you will drink only water or will cut out water. Some other dude was saying dry fasting is a thing.

I havent tried fasting yet , for more than 18 hrs anyway. Ive done liquid diets but thats not really the same. Id like to try it though. I might start with 1 or 2 days. Good luck.

[ - ] RRook 1 point 1.3 yearsMar 1, 2023 14:00:57 ago (+1/-0)

Only water with electrolytes. I've never tried dry fasting. It's always seemed unnecessary to me. I've made it close to 48 hours but man do the hunger pangs and bizarre cravings become a problem at arounf the 48 hour mark. I've never made it past that but I understand that on day 3 the worst of it is over and is downhill from there.

[ - ] beanbagWizard 1 point 1.3 yearsFeb 26, 2023 23:24:41 ago (+1/-0)

Apparently, dry fasting can lengthen telomeres. According to August Dunning in his book "The Phoenix Protocol Dry Fasting for Rapid Healing and Radical Life Extension: Functional Immortality"

7 day dry fast. Some nutters allegedly went 13 days, but they found no extra benefit over 9 days, from memory.

I haven't tried it yet, but it was an interesting read none the less.

[ - ] PostWallHelena [op] 1 point 1.3 yearsFeb 27, 2023 00:14:15 ago (+1/-0)

Does that mean you dont drink anything?

[ - ] beanbagWizard 1 point 1.3 yearsFeb 27, 2023 00:43:28 ago (+1/-0)

Exactly. He talks about absorbing water via the skin using cool showers/baths and/or walking outside at night. He claims you'll sleep less, so walking at night isn't that hard a thing to do.

[ - ] PostWallHelena [op] 1 point 1.3 yearsFeb 27, 2023 08:55:53 ago (+1/-0)

Wow. I dont think I could do it voluntarily. Ill have to research it. Thamks.

[ - ] RMGoetbbels 1 point 1.3 yearsFeb 26, 2023 21:38:22 ago (+1/-0)

I get hungry and then angry.

My ex fiance pointed it out once. Long story short, she had been making sure I snacked on long trips/vacations. Apparently I'm unbearable without a few peanuts in my gullet every few hours. Or beer. Beer makes me happy.

In didn't know, now I do.

[ - ] PostWallHelena [op] 1 point 1.3 yearsFeb 26, 2023 21:59:12 ago (+1/-0)

Yeah I get a bit testy too when Im hungry. But supposedly that goes away as your body gets accustomed to fasting. I quit beer because drinking it made me cranky when I wasnt drinking it. If that makes any sense.

[ - ] Kozel 1 point 1.3 yearsFeb 26, 2023 20:17:15 ago (+1/-0)

I've not eaten for five days twice within the last two year or two. Its alright. Just hit keto before you do it so the transition is easier.

Thats not clear at all. It seems that time restrictions may have added benefits that simple caloric reduction doesnt. According to some animal studies. Some of the earlier CR studies on animals may have inadvertently also been time restriction diets.

I went 5 days without eating once. Drank milk and juice when I was thirsty. Sucked for the first 2 days, and got a bit easier after that.

Would not want to do it again.

Most I'd do is one meal a day, if I had to cut down. I'm not convinced fasting is a good thing for you to do, as I figure our primal ancestors would have had at least something to eat every day, even if it was just some grass, or bits of fruit etc.

You eat five pizzas. So says the Buddah

That guy is not a jew.

[ - ] Ozark 1 point 1.3 yearsFeb 26, 2023 15:26:36 ago (+1/-0)

Is only consuming beer and coffee considered fasting? If it is, I might watch.

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer2 4 points 1.3 yearsFeb 26, 2023 15:45:47 ago (+4/-0)

Beer has a hefty amount of calories, mostly sugars, so no.

[ - ] lord_nougat 2 points 1.3 yearsFeb 26, 2023 15:41:27 ago (+2/-0)

You might want to switch from beer to whiskey, for maximum health.

[ - ] Ozark 3 points 1.3 yearsFeb 26, 2023 15:59:46 ago (+3/-0)

I was doing Jameson's cold brew for a while but I got too skinny.

[ - ] lord_nougat 2 points 1.3 yearsFeb 26, 2023 17:45:41 ago (+2/-0)

Oh good. You know what you're doing!

[ - ] RMGoetbbels 0 points 1.3 yearsFeb 26, 2023 21:42:25 ago (+0/-0)

^^^^ MY kinda guy. No homo.

[ - ] SilentByAssociation 2 points 1.3 yearsFeb 26, 2023 17:03:10 ago (+2/-0)

I think coffee is acceptable for fasting. No cream or sugar because those will start your metabolism.

[ - ] dassar 2 points 1.3 yearsFeb 26, 2023 18:30:43 ago (+2/-0)

Coffee is an inflammatory, i'd switch to organic green tea .

[ - ] SilentByAssociation 0 points 1.3 yearsFeb 26, 2023 19:04:29 ago (+0/-0)

It's also the most heavily pesticided crop. Organic or nothing at all.

if you want longevity, watch a documentary about okinawa, then you wont want to grow old any longer... those are the healthiest old people on the planet, yet they live their last decades as rotten husks without prupose.

better to live a life worth living and say goodbye early, than to hog a spot at the table for so long that the young cant find any place for themselves anymore...

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer2 3 points 1.3 yearsFeb 26, 2023 15:48:02 ago (+3/-0)

yet they live their last decades as rotten husks without purpose.

Why though? No doubt they have plenty of family, and there's endless entertainment and such via the internet. Hell, if their minds are still intact they can even do worthwhile things via technology.

[ - ] PostWallHelena [op] 2 points 1.3 yearsFeb 26, 2023 15:46:38 ago (+2/-0)

Sign me up for the husk thing. Live long laugh last.

You lose 5 days and gain how many? When you're old as shit, you'll naturally fast anyways. Sometimes my nana would just eat 1 biscuit for the day.
