The whole thing ghost city thing is a giant debt pyramid scheme. They have also intertwined US real-estate into the scam, which is one reason we're likely going to see a huge bubble pop starting basically now. It takes a while for all the debt and prices to get sorted out, but it's already started. Home prices here went up 43% in about 2 years, that's fucked up.

Those buildings are not pointless its the only thing that keeps a big chunk of the economy going and give people enough illusion of freedom and wealth to keep them docile.

Like we in the west have "justice and democracy" (and we seen how much that is worth in the past 3 years and shit is ramping up again)
