To hell with bugs, I'm cooking up a ribeye, mashed potatoes, and some boiled cabbage tonight.

Bone in ribeye is my favourite cut in the whole world. I love it well marbled and aged too. Serve on mash like you and fried cabbage or steamed French beans. Get a glass of merlot or similar with it. Bliss.

I recently discovered I like brussel sprouts. I was always racist against them but never actually tried them.

I cut off the ass end, discard the outermost two leaves and then cut them in half. Into a large bowl they go with salt, blackpepper, garlic power, onion power, tyme, paprika, and cyane. Mix it all up well, then add a few big glugs of good olive oil and mix again. Onto a baking sheet cut side down along the outside edge of the tray. The leaves that fell off during the mixing, well they go into the center of the tray. Bake in the oven at 400 for 12-13 minutes or until the lose leave are just starting to become crunchy.

I love it, maybe even more than asparagus now.

I always steam cabbage except when I'm making corned beef, and then I put the cabbage in the used corned beef water in the crock pot and lightly simmer it. You can't believe how much flavor the cabbage absorbs.

The flavor of cabbage is kind of neutral, so it goes well with whatever flavor you introduce to it. That's why people season it with stronger flavors like salt, vinegar, and mustard. Good luck with your next steak day. I hope you enjoy the hell out of it.
