You can buy Triops eggs for your kids and let them grow in a fish tank. It's a great learning experience because when they get big, they start eating each other until only the biggest and strongest one is left. Perfect example that nature doesn't give a shit.

Those critters are called Daphnia Lumholtzi, they were recently discovered in Utah.

I'm 99.9% sure those are not water fleas. For starters they are WAY too big to be Daphnia, and someone else below gave the correct genus. They are "triops" - just look it up!
