Is it just me or would it not obviously have been better for it all to have leaked out right there on the ground and destroyed the local ground water and a creek or 2 before getting sort of cleaned up.
Then to have burned it and spread it over a million square miles?

It was highly explosive material, so nothing saying that it would have been better in an uncontrolled burn, just from a somewhat ambivalent perspective.

I haven’t confirmed it, but I heard that out of the five cars with that chemical in it, only two were leaking. But when they burned it, it ignited all five cars.

But even if that isn’t the case, as horrendous as open spills are, they actually could have collected and even excavated to collect a huge portion of it if they hadn’t burnt it.
