Each of my dogs have been well cared for, loyal, and subserviently until death. My last dog followed my wife everywhere while she was pregnant, and wouldn't allow strangers near the children.
He tolerated any kind of play the kids did, never so much as glanced inappropriately at them when the kids went to far by mistake and landed on him or had some other mishap. He kept himself physically between the kids and other dogs and people at all times. To this day the kids each have a picture of him on their night stands.
My last dog would always find the nearest group of children whenever he got out of the fence. All I had to do was listen for the kids and there he'd be hopping around and wagging his tail. An 80lb dog a child could easily walk.
