Flat Earth ban proposed on Conspiracies.win one week before Balloon/UFO-gate

Last week on conspiracies.win, one of the mods (((organically))) propositioned to ban discussions of Flat Earth and quarantine the topic onto it's own board because "They are time wasters and trolls".

They aren't, but flat earth claims present a great opportunity (or prompt) to learn more about our planet, our place in the solar system, and galaxy.

They're kind of fun to poke at with questions they can't answer. Then you watch them try to squirm away to a different angle or topic. McNasty finally gave up on that account after getting battered like a General Tso chicken.

Also an opportunity for them to practice the art of squirming, which they are all apt at. It's a character flaw that sickens me, like watching people die. I can't always stomach it. Most sites don't allow gore either, but that's hardly a limit of free speech. Particularly if you suspect they don't actually believe the earth is flat, and argue it to muddy waters, like I believe. Therefore, it's hard for me to take their side on "free speech" much like it's hard for me to take the side of people publishing gore. When it comes to a flat earth hypothesis, either they are being dishonest with themselves or they are intentionally being dishonest with other people. In either case, it's grotesque. Mental gymnastics is a curse on this world and we are better out without liars.

People able to argue the earth is flat are clearly not stupid enough to believe that. It's the ability to type and form sentences that gives it away.

Have to wonder how much overlap there is between them and the "event/tech/thing is fake" accounts.

Overlap is no surprise. The cloak of internet anonymity has something to do with ability to deny who they are. It's like waking up from a blackout, and not feeling guilty about what transpired, because it wasn't "you" it was your internet alias. (Would also explain why they aren't available to discuss flat earth in-person - only as arrogant keyboard warriors.) They mask on.

It's a religious conquest for some who believe they literally are Truman in a Truman Show. Seeking out anything that falls in that paradigm, disconnecting from reality. Unable to test a hypothesis and revert back - only zealously pushing on with more and more justifications.

So I don't think it's all nefarious to others, as much as it's nefarious to themselves.
