Can't help but to size him up and come up with a fighting strategy.
Never square up with one directly - perform side steps and circles to prevent a square shot. Never let it land a kick, as a single slash can gut you. It coils back on its tail in a cocked position and, like a rattle snake, kicks a surprising distance with its talon-sharp legs. Punch it in the head. When it's dazed, use the time to retreat. Get far away. Climb on something. Get a long stick. Never let it get you in the water. It will drown you.
It isn't trying to eat you. It is probably a territory thing, and the initial dazing might make it reconsider going after something that is retreating. I am not advocating running, but quickly backing up in a guarded retreat seems sensible to me. Knowing almost nothing about roos, that is what this city slicker would do. What is your solution?

They can travel at 48kmp/h and up to 70kmp/h though and maintain an average speed for several days. You will never outrun roo.
