This is what's called cherry picking. People die every day.
You may say he died young compared to average. And you may say Olympians are more healthy and generally live longer (2 years on average) ...but you must also consider that Olympians in high contact sports have an 11% increased risk of mortality. Pugh was a bobsleder and had a major accident that took him out of the Olympics.

This information confirms that his chance of dieing young was high. So not a statistical outlier.
