You're talking about addiction as an excuse. I'm talking about physiological things that happen to you after removing a substance you become accustomed to. There is some overlap though and typically addictive activities have some aspect of hiding from your problems.

Lol, as could be said of any vice really. They are vices for a reason; We know they're not good for us but it's fun/enjoyable and so we do it anyways.

And so, manage your vices, all things in moderation, etc etc. So long as you can live a normal happy life, nobody cares. It's when you get addicted, start acting out, turn strange, and turn to crime etc, etc, that people have a problem with it.

Depends on what you're trying to achieve though. Big goals aren't compatible with a normal, happy life. Big goals mean you need to perform at a high level every day for at least a period of time. That usually means being strict about any vice you might enjoy.

I know for a fact the version of my life where I never smoke is better than the version where I do, but in moderation. I don't lose sleep over it, but I still think it's good to be honest with yourself.
