You're talking about addiction as an excuse. I'm talking about physiological things that happen to you after removing a substance you become accustomed to. There is some overlap though and typically addictive activities have some aspect of hiding from your problems.

Depends on what you're trying to achieve though. Big goals aren't compatible with a normal, happy life. Big goals mean you need to perform at a high level every day for at least a period of time. That usually means being strict about any vice you might enjoy.

I know for a fact the version of my life where I never smoke is better than the version where I do, but in moderation. I don't lose sleep over it, but I still think it's good to be honest with yourself.
