Men need to have that attitude so they have the fortitude to put their life on the line when that kind of fight is called for. The thought of his woman dying feels like failure, cowardice, and shame.

A woman is not meant to fight in that way so she doesn't have the same instinct. Her survival in those situations depends on having a man willing to die. So the thought of her man dying while she lives might mix sadness with feelings of pride that her man was good and brave.

So if a woman sees her man as good and brave, wouldn't this be the outcome that makes sense to her?

Let’s say females have more transferable loyalties, for arguments sake. Is that because when the new alpha male kills off the old alpha male and forces the old alpha’s females to be his mates, that he kills off the females that resist him? Something similar to this has been going on far back into our history as more primitive primates and continues today. Aggressive males will steal females from their mates or families, often by murder/warfare and will reward females that cooperate and punish females that resist.

Its called intersexual selection and it’s being accomplished by males in this case. I believe this trend nicely explains women with kinks for rape fantasies as well.
