Was the term "modern art" created to hide that the population was being dumbed down for generations? Because looking back in history shows we have done better works imho!!

The modern art period of history will be looked back on with disbelief!

This "art" will be the clearest evidence that humanity was being psychologically limited by breeding, drugging, poisoning, indoctrination and social engineering over a prolonged time.

Phd's will be written about this.

They will be able to show the collapse in intelligence and creativity as these efforts intensified down the generations.

People studying this period in history will be in amazement that we fought and won an ideological war while being mentally crippled at the same time.

That's why I think this "modern art" label was used to excuse the shit coming out of arts schools. Could this line up with fluoridation of the water supply in western countries?

What do you guys think?!

Modern art is art about modernity more often than not.

Don't forget that they threw out or painted over all the shitty art they could so what you see of the past is nothing but the best they had.

The term modern art goes back to the 1880s and at this point is largely meaningless. Impressionism is modern art. One of the first. Surrealism is modern art. You may or may not like those things but they are worlds different than Color Field or Abstract Expressionism or bananas taped to walls.

When people complain about modern art or abstract art, it just tells me they don't really know the subject. They generally have spent very little time in museums, galleries or studios.

And I think threads like these are pretty much just point farming in an echo chamber.

The standards dropped after World War One dramatically.

Lumping previous movements into the same category of this crap doesn't do it justice. We are talking about a collapse in standards and the pumping of value of certain artists work.

This new art needs a category all of its own.

"Fall art"

By using the term modern art you were the one who lumped it all together. Over all I agree w your point. NY galleries are owned and run by our favorite tribe and have been pushing trash for a long time. I'd put the real beginning of the end at the 60s/70s transition myself. I can't stand Andy Warhol.

In the future "Modern"art will just be called "Art".

Everything was taken over either by nepotism by retards who didn't earn their way or jews took it over. Look at old cartoons compared to most of the new cartoons.

It's worth considering the impact of photography in the changing nature of art.

A big part of art (realistic representation) got replaced by photography - something that soon could do it better and with much less skill required.

This both freed up the artists to push in other directions but also kind of forced them to.

The big difference between modern art and traditional art is that traditional tends to stand on its own more, whereas modern art often requires additional context to be understood.
