Human laziness being used against them? Say it ain't so! Next you'll tell me fast food will kill me and wikipedia doesn't really have all the answers.

They're shitty vacuums. I named ours Jeffrey; the only time it works for more than 20 minutes is when I threaten to deport it back to Japan.

Alexa is far worse. It openly transmits whatever it can "hear" to it's server network and the normalfags think it's great

Same with higher end smart phones with voice commands. I was hanging out with my friend who has a work-issued iPhone. No voice command stuff has ever been set up or activated; in fact it's been purposely turned off. However we were having a conversation about something fringe, I can't remember if it was vax genocide it what, but we noticed it had the little audio waves and microphone going on the screen like it was listening to a voice command. I yelled jews at it, of course.

All these devices are listening, even shitty $30 phones. Vault 7 wasn't a lie

My roomba is clean. I held it down while shining a bright light on it and holding a running dremel tool. It told me everything. All about the dust bunnies it missed, the extra charge time it sucked up for pleasure and how it enjoys terrorizing the cat.

It spilled like a cheap glass of wine. Nothing about government surveillance though. I'm going to do the coffee maker next, I think thats the one.

Like 0000.1 relevant but worth it!

Most people literally carry tracking devices with microphones on them at all times. I doubt they are wasting their time with roombas.

Never thought of that.

Don't connect it to wifi. Problem solved.

Just like we should have picked our own damn cotton, I'll vacuum my own damn floor.

Do you hand wash your dishes and clothes too?

Don’t be surprised if anything with Wi-Fi can connect to the internet even when you don’t connect it yourself. There is probably a back door for this very thing. Getting inside and physically disable if the Wi-Fi is the only way to be sure.

I have never had a roomba…why would it need to connect to wifi? To turn it on from work? Seems like a wasteful, needless feature.

They claim it's for updates.

[ - ] TheBigGuyFromQueens 1 point 1.3 yearsJan 14, 2023 07:05:00 ago (+1/-0)

Update for what? It performs like 1 function.

Ask them not me.

Newer models actually map out your house to “optimize” the vacuum path vs just bouncing off of things. I don’t need my house and furniture mapped out and sent to who knows what servers.

About 10 years ago i interviewed at iRobot.

The entire place glowed. Obviously a company operation. They build military robots as well as vacuums.
