I have lost taste/smell a couple times before after a bout of ordinary flu.
This was/is different. I couldn't taste or smell anything for 2-3 months. It has gradually returned, but a lot of things, especially anything with a high sulfur content(onions, garlic, celery,etc.) taste really bad. Don't know if it will ever return.

Did you get a nasal swab? It's also possible that the bioweapon virus they released was designed to cause weird symptoms like loss of smell and taste, rather than actually being deadly. Or the snake venom theory but that one's probably bogus.
