Your "Owner's Manual"which is located in glove-compartment of said car.YOU,were supposed to read this manual & have a firm knowledge of it's contents,BEFORE operating vehicle.
Disregard. He's a retard. 2006 and later is when electronic fuckery took off, depending on the model of vehicle. Older platforms were not updated with such technology in most cases. They were simply discontinued after a while.
Use your head,if the corp.can unlock your car from a phone call & the cops can render your vehicle inop. while it is in motion, using "stated"kill switches, the proof-look-up COPS Tv show, the cops have stopped stolen cars 3 times in different episodes using this very technique.
Honda Civic, for example, had the same generation vehicle from 2015 to 2020. In accordance with your claim, the 2020 10th gen civic would have a kill switch whereas the 2019 would not. I do not believe you and you have no source to back your claims.
They don't call it anything in the owners manual because there's no mention of it in the owners manual, faggot. If there is then find it and point it out. You won't, because it doesn't exist, and also because you're a faggot.
My car has one of those touchscreen consoles that handles a lot (but nowhere near all) of the features in my car. Every once in a while you can see little messages at the bottom about what it's updating and the filenames tell me that it's written in Java. Like... these dense motherfuckers wrote their shit in a language that can be done in Notepad, doesn't need to be compiled, can be uploaded directly into the system with a flash drive thanks to the USB ports and then the connection for updates and remote anything physically cut. I could reprogram the whole goddamned thing.... Or I could hijack that whole fuckin' thing and write my own shit that activates on an app i deploy to my phone (fuck no I don't want to do it because I have a fuckin' life).
What's fuckin' sad is that you can get modules that you just plug right in and it disables the governors, changes how a lot of the car functions and you can buy it online right now and it's hardly more complicated that plugging in one of those diagnostic tools.
And before anyone whines about the governor on my car, it doesn't kick in until 180.
That's what I've been saying about this shit for awhile now. There's already a thriving market in hacking the crap in your car to do what you want. Sure, some of it is sketchy, but word gets around about who's dealing straight stuff. And right now it's stupidly easy to reprogram that crap. Add a few instructions on how to disable wireless stuff, both internally and physically, and you have re-secured your car while also having (most of) the electronic luxuries.
And the only governor I would want would be a rev limiter, to keep the fucker from blowing up when I'm being stupid. I generally only want a good stereo system and power windows(for the dogs) as far as electronics goes.
It has a rev limiter as well so, yeah, that one's not entirely bad. And unless I'm looking to break top speed records on a track the speed limiter isn't bad either. I mean, FFS, when am I going to go 180+?
New cars are bullshit. Never drive anything newer than 2007. They are worse trackers and spyware machines than smartphones. Pretty much anything with an "infotainment" screen is bad news.

I know that there's a black box (event data recorder) in just about every car.

Any car with cellular integration from 2004 on has a kill switch.

Depending on the vehicle it will kill the onboard wifi and/or GPS systems too. But who needs that bug man shit anyway.

Actually the probable reason is your tires. Unless you mount tires specifically rated for ludicrous speed, they start flying apart above 180.
