Why are disposable batteries still legal?

submitted by MightyMorphinFaggot to AskUpgoat 2.4 yearsJan 7, 2023 13:20:33 ago (+4/-1)     (AskUpgoat)

Not only are they expensive as fuck, they're also toxic.

Who's getting paid to keep that shit on the shelves?

Why can't I take my battery out of my phone?

You're being too gentle.

If brute force didn't work, you didn't use enough.

Because removable batteries take more space and everyone wants the thinnest phones possible.

Better question is why do people buy disposable batteries?

I've gotten by with a handful of rechargeable for over a decade.

[ - ] Sector7 2 points 2.4 yearsJan 7, 2023 14:25:30 ago (+2/-0)

Because they're so cheap and you don't have to mess with recharging. My mouse is the main battery user, and $20 worth of AA batteries lasts a year or two.

[ - ] Kozel 2 points 2.4 yearsJan 7, 2023 14:42:41 ago (+2/-0)

I've had $20 of rechargeable batteries for 10 years and most of them still work.

How long does your charger last you? Ours usually craps out at about 4 years.

[ - ] Kozel 3 points 2.4 yearsJan 7, 2023 15:08:42 ago (+3/-0)

I've had this one for 5 years now I don't think its going to break

I'm a rechargeable battery guy. Eneloops in AA and AAA. I had a Xtar VC4 break in less than 2 years. Pretty much simply recharging 18650's. I'm not saying xtars are crap, they're not, but mine did break. I currently have a Opus 3100 and a Xtar VP4 Plus Dragon. Both excellent. Some great charger reviews are here: https://lygte-info.dk/info/roundCellChargerIndex%20UK.html.

Henrik is a private individual who bought and tested all of those himself. Don't give him any crap about it please. You can sort by clicking on the headers.

Period-free link That's quite a list of chargers.

There is a "." at the end of your link so it 404s

Ohh yours is nice! I like the battery tester screen. 5 years ? Sounds like a good deal. Thank you for sharing.

Not bad, but it lacks a discharge feature; I usually store unused batteries at ~30%, although that depends on the chemistry.

I use a SkyRC MC3000 charger. They're expensive, but worth the investment for their extensive features and compatibility.

fuck that shit, nigra, go to Harbor Freight and buy their good, cheap batteries. I use them in everything and they aren't too shabby and far cheaper than the sources you listed.

[ - ] Sector7 1 point 2.4 yearsJan 7, 2023 16:33:18 ago (+1/-0)

https://www.harborfreight.com/home/electrical/batteries/aa.html

As cheap as 13 cents? I'm a little skeptical. Do they last as long, and don't leak inside your device?

The main difference between carbon zinc batteries and alkaline batteries is the #electrolyte used; zinc batteries use acidic ammonium chloride, whereas alkaline batteries use basic potassium hydroxide. * Alkaline batteries have a larger #capacity and are more adaptable to high current discharge.

While it is possible to use carbon-zinc batteries instead of alkaline batteries, doing so is not recommended. Alkaline batteries have a higher energy density compared to carbon-zinc batteries.

All set for the next couple years, but thanks for reminding me that Harbor Freight exists. There's one in a nearby mexican town.

Are they as good as Energizer? No. But they're still pretty damned good. Go buy some and try them and see what you think. I gave them my stamp of approval many years ago and never looked back. I love that store for many things. Its a store for men who need to get shit done but don't want to get jewd.

In some electronics, the rechargeables simply don't fit right. I have such a problem with a facial brush.

[ - ] HonkyMcNiggerSpic 0 points 2.4 yearsJan 7, 2023 14:54:39 ago (+0/-0)

you have to be a born rich jew to buy 9v batteries these days.

[ - ] texasblood 0 points 2.4 yearsJan 7, 2023 13:49:38 ago (+1/-1)

Buy your bitch a Briggs&Stratton for that whoop stick.
Tell Duracell to pound it

Because there's no alternative. Rechargeable batteries suck.

I think you're spending too much on batteries. I myself never by name brand.

[ - ] HonkyMcNiggerSpic 0 points 2.4 yearsJan 7, 2023 14:56:55 ago (+0/-0)

You can recharge them but you have to know what you're doing or BOOooom! balls across the nose

[ - ] Gowithit 1 point 2.4 yearsJan 7, 2023 15:21:50 ago (+1/-0)

hahaha I dont think it takes a rocket scientist to figure out how to recharge batteries. Wait, did this happen to you?

[ - ] HonkyMcNiggerSpic 2 points 2.4 yearsJan 7, 2023 16:52:09 ago (+2/-0)

Charging non-chargeable batteries can be sketchy. lol

[ - ] Gowithit 0 points 2.4 yearsJan 7, 2023 17:00:33 ago (+0/-0)

Oh! Charging regular ones... You're a brave guy for trying.

[ - ] HonkyMcNiggerSpic 1 point 2.4 yearsJan 7, 2023 17:01:56 ago (+1/-0)

It can be done if you're desperate and need a battery and don't feel like running out to buy any. lol

For the same reason jews are not all executed.
