Thinking of changing jobs, just wanted your opinions

I work for a money lender (I know) that deals with subprime auto loans and should remain unnamed. The pay is ok and I have great benefits.

Problem is they're a bunch of scamming (legal) thieves that take advantage for idiots that just want a car and sign whatever is put in front of them. The hole industry is dirty. They openly deal with dealerships that I know for a fact are a bunch of scammers. The only thing they care about is money.

I've been doing a lot of soul searching and I'm tired of feeling like a piece of trash every time my customers call me a crook (and I agree with them). Obviously I'm not an idiot so I will find something better to replace it, but I don't know. Have you ever quit a job for moral reasons?

I quit the department of health as a whistleblower. And I've quit most of my jobs because somebody in the organization at the top was a total douchebag.

Bartending or waiting tables is better than most of the fucking shit jobs out there

Just apply until someone says yes. Don't go for anything 5 starred, or super fancy. Typical Sysco cafeteria food places will take anyone.

I might do just that. Thank you kind stranger. It's a big change but as long as I keep groomed I believe I can do it. And the tips are a good incentive. Plus you can always get free food when working for a restaurant, just don't let the boss find out.

Buss boy isn't that bad unless you work with shitty people who will rush you to clean the table so the dumb bitch can seat people quicker so she can get more tips. Young woman are the worst. They yell and cause drama when their only job is to bring people to a table and then bring them food.

get a job where the people are older and not fucking assholes.

On second hand the food industry is full of drama. Look for something else. DO YARDWORK. You can start your business cutting grass or pressure washing driveways and houses.

Oh yeah- chain franchises vs locally owned places. Large chain franchises have a steady stream of customers usually. So they can be a stable(mostly) income. But they can be rigid in their rules and systems. They aren't all that fun to work for. It's a corporation first.

Locally owned can be a much better environment to work in/for. But they can be hit and miss on income because they lack name recognition. If you can spot a local place that has just opened that can be very good. If it's a success it's first two years will be phenomenal money because it's the new hotness of the moment.

Many places will give you a discount on a meal if not a full free shift meal. And sometimes you can get a free shift beer at the end of the day.

In the right restaurant you can make good money.

Look at places that are casual dining pub type places. You can get hired as a server probably. But busboy isn't terrible, you make almost the same as a server and usually have to deal w people less. Fine dining will probably require experience, but maybe not. Your best bet is the casual bar/restaurant.

It is harder work than most realize. You need people skills that remain under stress. You need to be organized and have a good memory. But if you find the right restaurant you can make bank.
The rest of the crew will be mostly drug addled freaks. Many joints will be smoked out back by the dumpster. So either be into that or be able to see their entertainment value.

Absolutely. I worked for a call center that did small loans (misrepresented by third parties) for shitty appliances (that people didn’t usually need). It was an absolute tragedy workingg there and I just took a long look at my life one smoke break… Told my boss that unffortunately, the company policies didn’t meet up to my personal policies. Nothing is worth selling your principles.

Yup, I have. I once needed money and a job and so I got a job cleaning a slaughterhouse after the work was done. The work was OK, but I realized that the owners were pieces of shit, users and abusers so to speak, so I worked only one night and quit.

You've been blessed with firsthand knowledge of that shitndustry and now is a good time to get out (as there is work out there) once you have your next move mapped out.

Pay off any debts that you currently have. Every last one. If they're doing anything criminal, discretely gather evidence, update your resume and apply for a new job. After you leave, at a time of your choosing make that evidence available to the appropriate authorities while retaining copies for yourself. Any business that is in the so-called financial sector is by definition running a scam. Banks have that respectable veneer, as do some of the investment firms, but ultimately all they are doing is using somebody else's money to make a profit. And that profit is entirely imaginary. It's the same as saying $1 + $1 = $5. Where did the extra $3 come from?

Industry or services provide a value for what they cost, and that value adds up over time so in a very real sense it builds the economy and everyone benefits.

But the financial sector is nothing more than smoke and mirrors. So it makes sense that people in that industry are more likely to be lying, thieving scum. Even if they wear a $5000 suit and give to charities their foundation is as shifty as sand and even less solid.
