That’s a really interesting car especially with the pre-1970(?) all chrome non-safety bumpers. From some angles it’s the most beautiful car I’ve ever seen and from some angles it is horribly ugly. I guess that’s what happens when you outsource the bodywork to an Italian design firm. It does have some of the nicest compound curves on the body work that I’ve ever seen.

I have never really been a fan of Karmann Ghias myself, but I do love Porsche 356s which aren't a whole lot different.

The thing that amazes me about this ad is how cognitive it is.

It's conversant. It's asking the viewer to think. It is making suggestions and providing information that is product-specific. Think about what this suggests about the advertiser's views about the buyers. It respects them. "Maybe you should look again."

Contrast this with what an ad is much likelier to feature today:

Some nigger in the driver's seat with a white woman holding two grocery-bags making a sexy face at him. Subtly in the background you can see her white husband dealing with some children in their mini-van.

I ditched television years back so I haven't seen an automobile commercial in several years but when I did see them, yhey literally told you nothing about the car itself, only the price abd the name. Back in the day, ads you to tell the specs and options and shit, now they tell you nothing, forcing you to look on the internet. Wh8ch brings me to my next point... the fact that commercials are unnecessary now. All forced/intrusive advertising needs to ne abolished. The birth of the internet removed the necessity for advertising across all platforms.
