When I first got into it I thought it was all fake but I just wanted to try to imagine what my ancestors felt. What I actually got was clumsily finding my way to a religious experience that was so much bigger than anything I had ever experienced growing up Christian.

Basic reading of somewhat original source is the Poetic and Prose Edda. I like Jackson Crawford's translation but it's the only one I've read in detail. Also saga of the volsungs.

Jackson Crawford has an excellent YouTube channel on the subject. He's an academic old norse expert, not a practicing Pagan so is a good foundation for understanding historically accurate vs modern stuff people came up with (there's a ton of that out there, especially anything related to magic etc, most of that you come across is neo-larper stuff made up in the past 100 years)

Wagner's Ring Cycle is a good watch, there's a few on YouTube just find one with English subs and an aestetic you like. There's 3 or 4 parts.

Survive the Jive (youtube) had a video that explained the basics of a standard prayer/sacrifice(just wine) that I thought was good. His other videos are decent but kind of hit or miss.

That's a decent start. If you want more or have questions message me and I'm happy dig up more or answer any questions. There's plenty that's worthwhile just learning the stories and history, even without getting too far into the spiritual stuff but I'm happy to go there too.

I don't think she froze to death initially. I bet she had the car running and she died of CO poisoning.
