I think alcohol helps against covid

submitted by Conspirologist to TellTalk 1.4 yearsDec 25, 2022 10:14:10 ago (+20/-4)     (TellTalk)

All three we got covid. The first one was unable to walk and feels like shit. The second one ended in hospital with pulmonary problems. I have only flu symptoms with little bit of fewer. The only difference between us is that I'm the only one heavy drinker. I din't stop drinking even when I got covid. I think there is a correlation here. Looks like the alcohol in my blood helped to fight the virus.

alcoholics will use any excuse to justify their addiction.

I'll drink to that.

Covidiots will use any excuse to justify the existence of the magical super cold.

Nothing more annoying than a drinker who wont stfu. This post qualifies the OP for the special olympics. Just dont drive there. Oh wait, let me guess... You're one of those drivers thats REALLY GOOD at "drunk driving", right?

I mean I can't walk either and feel like shit but that's pretty normal for me by this time of day

Didn't help my mom.

Damn

Had it this past summer. Felt like the flu; two days of feeling achy and bad, solid 12 hours of sleep and no hunger / fasted for 36 hours.

Reguardless, each time I start to "feel something coming on" I make sure to have some form of hard alcohol. If alcohol can be a disinfectant topically, why can't alcohol be a disinfectant internally?

Something to also know: who (if any) of the three took the vaxx?

[ - ] Anus_Expander 3 points 1.4 yearsDec 25, 2022 12:50:22 ago (+3/-0)

felt like the flu

because it was the flu.

[ - ] bobdole9 2 points 1.4 yearsDec 25, 2022 13:09:45 ago (+2/-0)

It definitely shat like a duck. Also got the "sense of smell and taste" issue from a sinus infection...everything tasted and smelled like snot. No different than an allergy attack or another head cold.

Coronaviruses are now and always have been common colds and flu.

You had the flu.

Yep...some just don't like hearing the Cliff Notes version of the Coof though.

Gin, specifically Tanqueray works best for me. The power of pine!

And Merry Christmas to you as well, Blumen.

Right on. Additional questions:

unable to walk and feels like shit
Is this due to lightheadedness / dizzy, or too weak to move?

Overall, do the other two drink at all? I could see habitual alcohol use as an "easy button" when you are otherwise unstable / dizzy from sickness. As in, you're used to it and the others may not be used to it.

The one who went to the hospital: what sort of heart problems? General chest pain / arrhythmia?

[ - ] Conspirologist [op] 0 points 1.4 yearsDec 25, 2022 13:28:21 ago (+0/-0)

Too weak to move.

They are not drinkers.

I've never said heart problems.

The excessive urination helps cleanse you of the virus.

I used to smoke for about 10 years. I was thinking about getting some nicotine patches in case I came down with covid at one point, but then omicron showed up.

Merry Christmas Blumen. Try to be a good boy this new year.

[ - ] TheNoticing 0 points 1.4 yearsDec 25, 2022 16:20:21 ago (+0/-0)

Yeah, smoking is fucking disgusting.

[ - ] bosunmoon 2 points 1.4 yearsDec 25, 2022 11:22:45 ago (+2/-0)

I'm unvaxed and I've never had covid, but I am shitfaced pretty much 24/7.

[ - ] PeckerwoodPerry 3 points 1.4 yearsDec 25, 2022 11:57:45 ago (+3/-0)

I have a general rule. No liquor before noon. Beers are fine, and pretty well necessary at this point, but no hard liquor before noon. Short story long, there's whiskey in my coffee.

[ - ] bosunmoon 2 points 1.4 yearsDec 25, 2022 12:24:12 ago (+2/-0)

What if you stay up past midnight?

[ - ] PeckerwoodPerry 3 points 1.4 yearsDec 25, 2022 12:27:34 ago (+3/-0)

I don't remember ever staying up past midnight.

[ - ] bosunmoon 4 points 1.4 yearsDec 25, 2022 12:42:33 ago (+4/-0)

That just means it was a good time.

[ - ] FreeinTX 2 points 1.4 yearsDec 25, 2022 10:16:57 ago (+2/-0)

Couldn't hurt.

[ - ] lord_nougat 1 point 1.4 yearsDec 25, 2022 12:59:09 ago (+1/-0)

I'll drink to that!

[ - ] PostWallHelena 1 point 1.4 yearsDec 25, 2022 12:57:13 ago (+1/-0)

It could be a lot of things like level of exposure and whether you have good vitamin intake. But in the early stage of infection the virus is mostly growing in your gi and upper respiratory tracts. It could be that you boozing sanitized that area and the virus failed to gain the beachhead. I dont think it would have served you much after the onset of symptoms though. You need to stay hydrated and booze wont help that.

Alcohol in your bloodsteam is not in a high enough concentration to kill anything but your liver. Take vitamins. Merry Christmas and feel better.

[ - ] BoraxTheFungarian 1 point 1.4 yearsDec 25, 2022 12:47:31 ago (+1/-0)

I did hot totties. I think the ginger/oranges/lemons/cloves/cinnamon/honey/whisky combo kicks the shit outta wintery respiratory crap. Plus its delicious.

[ - ] MrDarkWater 0 points 1.4 yearsDec 25, 2022 19:55:59 ago (+0/-0)

No, man. It's something else

[ - ] Shotinthedark 0 points 1.4 yearsDec 25, 2022 18:18:12 ago (+0/-0)

That would explain why I've never had it even though I've been on the Frontlines basically shaking hands with at least 100 people a day

[ - ] Nosferatjew 0 points 1.4 yearsDec 25, 2022 16:50:15 ago (+0/-0)

There is no covid, ya doof.

[ - ] TheNoticing 0 points 1.4 yearsDec 25, 2022 16:10:20 ago (+0/-0)

If it did indeed help, then NY wouldn't have kept liquor stores open.

Retarded boomer alert

[ - ] 2Drunk 0 points 1.4 yearsDec 25, 2022 13:58:58 ago (+0/-0)

Same here, I drank through COVID. My drinking is the only reason I didn't work from home. The cough sucked though.

[ - ] Anus_Expander 0 points 1.4 yearsDec 25, 2022 12:49:46 ago (+0/-0)

It's the FLU, congratulations

[ - ] Cantaloupe 0 points 1.4 yearsDec 25, 2022 12:41:00 ago (+0/-0)

It's hard to find reliable information about that. It seems unhelpful.

The unable to walk was a somewhat rare symptom, it could affect balance.

Overall though it seems likely not.

So does taking your vitamins. Take your vitamin D.
