Doesn't look like much from the outside but there's somewhat a bit of work inside of these. I'm redoing my catback next week with 2.5" stainless pipe, a true dual exhaust setup with an H-pipe.

After shopping around I saw these:

Apparently they'll help me annoy the fuck out of faggots, especially electric car drivers so I figured let's do it but fuck spending 400$, I'm a make my own.

So with about 100$ of 304 stainless I prepped all the parts:

I took very special care while shaping the internals, a hi-tech plywood jig & a ball-peen hammer later I had them air-flow concentrating thingamajigs shaped.

No expenses spared either, i recycled that 0.15$ plywood jig to help me bend that 18ga sheet metal:

Once I had all that shit tacked up inside i was ready to close it up:

Them fancy lips on the internals were to allow me to plug weld the skin on top of the core:

There ya have it, fancy stainless mufflers for my truck. Probably doing the new exhaust next week if I feel like driving at the shop at some point, we'll see.

I had a suburban with an LQ4. While chasing an overheating problem I gutted the cats. 4 cats as this was originally a california model. Performed a quick tune w/out using a wide band, just long term trims, added timing, and quicker higher pressure shifts. Went from 10mpg to 15mpg average unloaded and 9.5 to 13 while towing.

Exhaust sounded good w stock muffler no cats but sound was not my intention. Also swapped aluminum radiator and much bigger trans cooler with HD fan clutch. Turned out the trans cooler was entirely clogged and was cause for engine overheating.
Suburban was a beast.

I got my hands on a 2006 Silverado ss, I needed something decent to pull a trailer and as a bonus it's an awesome sunday driver. I haven't touched the engine much, fixing or upgrading everything around it because it's all (over)due. Only 170k miles on it so I'm holding off on pulling the engine out for some tlc & a few mods.

Not really going for sound, I just ordered a 20' length of pipe & had a sheet of 18ga stainless laying around so i fabbed the mufflers & exhaust tips I posted in another comment. Just being frugal while building it to last, I'll throw in some resonators if needed.

That sucks for the tranny cooler clogging up on you, i haven't changed the cooler lines yet and you make me want to install a new cooler for peace of mind. Glad you didn't burn out your tranny!

California emissions neccesitated 4 cats. If you want rustfree used cars you buy them from California.

Your generation silverado is extremely easy to hotwire. Screwdriver below driver door key cylinder will open the door without triggering security shutoff. Hammer screwdriver into ignition and turn while multi frequency transponder chips is held against. Gone in 5 minutes.
At minimum get a Jimmy Jammer or fab your own steel shield inside the doors. Strongly suggest you install a hiden cutoff switch and/or chain the steering wheel to the seat post.
If it's got a hydroboost brake and the pedal pumps your foot when engine is started then replace with a new, not reman, ACDelco unit.

Great advice, thanks. I'll look into that door shielding, I had already thought of putting in a master shut off solenoid & hiding the switch inside somewhere.

Brakes I redid from the booster to the calipers this summer, had a line bust on me. Nicop all around, stainless flex lines, no more abs pump & an adjustable proportioning valve for the back. The only thing i didn't do yet was the rear disc upgrade.

You don't know shit. With the dpf and EGR gone and zero emissions tune I have gained 50hp and 200tq. Tesla lose battery very quickly under any type of load. They'll never replace HD diesels. Good luck in California
