That's what I figured. I always thought that was so cheap of xbox for their controllers to require batteries. Luckily I chose the superior gaming console in playstation so I don't have to buy batteries for my controller.

I'm fine either way, but I actually prefer the external batteries. Controller is dying? Just swap out batteries. No need to plug the fucking thing in and have a cord going across the room. The downside is the bulging battery case underneath the controller.

I wasn't fine paying over 600 bucks for a gaming system that requires me to spend more money on batteries.

Only Xbox controller I've ever owned came with batteries.
