Very cool. I have something similar for DE blades that belonged to my grandfather. It runs leather along the edge like a corkscrew. Looks more like a miniature schoolhouse pencil sharpener compared to that thing.

There was once an "as seen on TV" razor blade sharpener that was literally just magnets. Some corporation bought the rights to it and shelved it. Here's an abstract of the patent that I found:

An apparatus and method for sharpening razor blades and the like whereby rectangularly-shaped magnets are placed end-to-end in a rectangular enclosure that snaps on securely over a razor blade during non-use times in such a manner that the magnetic field generated by the magnets acts upon the cutting edge of the blade so as to maintain the sharpness of the cutting edge.

Incredibly easy to produce, very profitable to sell, and infringing on sales of disposable razor producers. A shame it's no longer around.

This product is NOT a sharpener. It simply keeps you blade sharper for longer because there is a small ionic field where the blade sits. That ionic fields prevents rust and build up from dulling the blade. It does not sharpen it.

My history teacher in high school told us that you could sharpen a razor by putting it inside a pyramid shaped box. Wonder if it works?

If you look on Amazon there are some different kinds of razor blade sharpeners that are used for the type of multi-blade razors we have now. Reviews are pretty good people say they seem to work and extend the life like twice.
