Agree with your post except for the goth part. The goths I dated were mostly anti-social with unconventional world views, doing everything they could to showcase their own identity without actually taking part in anything. Most of them had some degree of neuroticism and all had daddy issues.
There weren't any goth "cliques" where I grew up, either; they all seemed to hate each other. Maybe they were different where you were.
