I have those just growing randomly on my property and I never gave them a second look yet. I have so much to discover on just these few acres I can't imagine how people managed hundreds at times.

I will definitely be looking into these plants as the opportunity arrives!

Herbology is a weakness of mine I need to cultivate much further.

They grow all over here and, while I don't process them for medicinal use, I have used extracts of the root in the past as the berberine can have a mild stimulant effect (one of my buddies swears by it for his autistic son) in addition to being a potent antimicrobial.

As for the berries, I like to use them at a ratio of about 1:20 in blueberry pies. They have a pleasant tartness and a high pectin content that acts as a thickener to the filling.

While I'm unaware of a specific toxicity threshold for the berries, I should mention that berberine in particular and Oregon Grape in general, is considered unsafe for pregnant and/or nursing mothers.

As to the Alaska guy, I was under the impression that he had mistakenly harvested a poisonous lookalike, though I reserve the right to be wrong about that.

I am now that I can swallow water. Feeling great in just one day. I tried zicam at the start to see if it would help and honestly I couldn't tell. I got too fucked up from not eating for four days or drinking for three. That's what really did me in, no intake and I lost 27 pounds (holy fuck I need to eat less ice cream!)

I take C,D, zinc, a B complex and several other supplements everyday, not just when sick.

Also I dont drink. I used to get sick alot more often when I was drinking. Sounds like you got the rona. Why do you think you got strep and flu?

Zicam is bullshit. There are several formulations but none have really high doses of vitamins.

My symptoms fit flu and strep exactly and my countermeasures to it are working as good as or better than steroids and antibiotics ever did for me.

Alcohol is a depressant, that goes for your immune system as well as other stuff. Been sick for a bit over a week now, had a bottle of bourbon on standby for thanksgiving and it's still sitting there. I don't drink when sick, that's just a bad idea.

My immune system has never been better because I research the fuck out of immunity and infectious illnesses and vitamins and supplements when I was worried about dying from covid and now Im like a health fanatic and I realize the strength of my immune system is in my own hands!
