I've taken my big through retarded amounts of snow. I even drove it through nearly two feet of ice water when I busted through a very deep puddle. They're unstoppable.

Impressive. Very nice. Now let's see the Kübelwagen in the snow.

I think Kubelwagen has a limited slip diff in stock form, so probably better.

My first car as a '63 bug with a 1.3 liter engine that ran on 6V. Driving it in 40F degree weather was unbearable because of the time it took for the engine to warm. At that temperature I could never get it above 45mph and the cabin never warmed.

It was most likely a 1.2 the 1.3 didn't come out untill 66 and only for a single year when it went and stayed at 1.6

Thanks, now that I think on it, it probably was the 1.2.

I had a bug like that. It was the worst cold weather car ever. Would stall at every stop sign on my way to school. School was just far enough away that it would be good and warmed up by the time I got there, and stop stalling at the very last stop sign before I got to where I parked. True it had a good heater, but most cars have good heaters. The heat comes from the engine, and engines love to make heat. The handling on ice was nothing to write home about, unless you like writing about the high pitched girlish scream your best friend makes when he sees the speedometer spike to 60mph as you spin helplessly.

The V6 Pontiac Fiero GT, was a snow beast. Wide, low, mid engine. It required effort to get that thing to break loose in the snow. Unfortunately, you could only transport one friend.

I had one of those too. It was an 86 GT.
