I visited a town where the pavers must have cost a fortune because they looked phenomenal but had one fatal flaw: slippery than shit when wet. The whole town was paved this way. Eventually they tore it all out after 2years of drunk girls regularly eating shit leaving the bars when it rained.

Boy was it beautiful tile though. I'm talking Rome or Paris France circa 1985 beauty. Just a bit dangerous to walk on. I'm sure somebody sued.

The jewish quarter isn’t far from the old town so maybe down there. There also an actual golem’s house there (or so goes the myth) and a clock that goes anti-clockwise cos it’s hebrew. The layouts of the paving for the whole city have to meet one of six separate approved designs afaik, and they’re all really intricate and beautiful. They have a very noticeable appreciation of beauty in that region of Europe, it’s evident in even the most simple and functional of their buildings.

Surprised it couldn't be fixed with some sand blasting. Wouldn't be shiny, but it would still have the color and pattern. And be a cheap retrofit.
