This is the best way I have found to start to wake people up; any time they bring up a mass shooting or especially a school shooting I start with, “I don’t remember hearing about shootings like this when I was a kid. Were there shootings like this back in the 1970s or 80s or 90s? When the heck did these shooting start? What’s causing them? Something changed in our society to cause these shootings and I can’t figure out what it was.”
