...I don't exactly recommend it, its pretty gay. But it cost me nothing at all, so that is a plus. If I were speccing out one for myself, I'd make sure to find one with little to no israeli intel crap built into it.
When I used to do the buying for an IT dept MSI (and Acer) laptops were on the Don't Buy list, because they broke more often than other brands and getting service, especially for warranty claims, was a PITA. If your daughter's laptop is fine then that's great. I'm just saying this was our experience.
HP laptops were also frowned upon because they were not reliable, but at least HP supported them well. HP printers and networking equipment were great though.
Gaming laptops are inevitably going to be problematic. To get any sort of performance that rivals a desktop gaming PC the manufacturer is forced to make concessions in the design, which results in potentially flaky hardware and often driver issues. And you pay more for gaming laptops because they are harder to make and have a lower sales volume due to the higher cost.
What is more the very nature of laptops makes repairing a faulty component harder/more expensive.
The appeal of a compact gaming machine is undeniable but unless you need the portability of a laptop always go for a desktop build.
Ugh. I'm actually not planning that. I was hoping that statement would stop all the "hey! I found out there are desktops! It's better at cooling than a laptop. You now must talk about desktops only" comments. But you did it anyways.
There is nothing that can stop people from replying to these gaming laptop requests with that sort of reply. And if I straight up say I don't want a gaming desktop it results in an equivalent out of angry responses.
Maybe next time I'll try saying I have a gaming desktop already and want a laptop too. But that will result in people crying that I can afford both.
I bought the steam deck for when I travel to customers. It's been amazing, better than any gaming laptop I've used and it's only ~$650USD. It's worth it if you want an affordable portable gaming PC.

I'm still in a pretty good spot I carved for myself in this company over the past decade and some, fingers crossed!
