As an elite armchair knife fighter this picture makes me throw up in my mouth. She's hiding the knife behind her back with a forward grip. WTF? NO!

A reverse grip would be a better choice. That will keep the knife hidden longer as it is brought around the side of the body for a quick strike across the victim's throat.

If the victim's throat is inaccessible you can use a foward grip with the knife upside down. Then bring the knife around low and come up in a upper cut motion, getting under jackets and other armor. This is the same grip you'd use slitting throats from behind.

The grip she's using is for when your enemy already knows you have a knife. It wouldn't be behind your back in that case. If it's behind your back you need a 180° wrist rotation before the blade faces the enemy. So the only good initial movements are big roundhouse type swipes that leave you exposed. Such a strike also exposes the arterial underside of your forarm. Not good if the baddy is blocking with a knife. It's a good grip to thrust, but thrusting from behind the back is a pretty complex movement that's liable to be countered.

This whole thing is just terrible. I don't know if I'll survive seeing it.

All the knife fight videos I've seen have convinced me that avoiding knife fights, the people who engage in them, and the places where they live, is one of my priorities in life.

Avoid fighting by keeping your knife hidden. Your enemy should feel it before they see it. Use the ABC principle: Always Be Cutting. You're not going to stop the enemy's blade so get behind him if possible and cut the whole time you're close. Your primary target is the throat. Loss of blood pressure to the brain will quickly cause blindness and make him incapable of fighting. If distance opens now you have a knife fight on your hands. You have to get behind him. Time to lunge and thrust. Don't stay extended or he'll get behind you. Always retract quickly. Don't charge, only flank. Once you're behind him, close in and go back to ABC.

And if worse comes to worse and you're toe to toe, try to swipe at his hand when he parries. If you can somehow cut his hand as he's swinging or stabbing, he'll drop the knife.

Last one I saw (WPD) was a fisticuff guy pounding on a guy outside a store. You can barely see the second guys arm lunge in one time at maximum extension, but that was all it took. Fisticuff guy took a couple faltering steps, then fell over dead.
