Their personal travel by jet and yacht probably creates an annual footprint greater than a small town's. I'm not certain, but I don't even think that's unrealistic. I recall reading that the CO2 output of a large yacht annually was equal to a couple thousand autos.

Your purchases, travel tickets etc are all already being tracked.

But on individual or government only platforms. it's about getting these platforms to 'talk to each other'. After that it's a fairly simple exercise to attribute a 'carbon score' to items and activities.

1. It doesn't actually require 100% compliance accross 100% of purchases.

B. Unless you're buying crack in some back alley - cash can be traced, and systems can be put in place to encourage and/or require the use of cash scanning machines.

iii. A fallback will be to just assign a carbon score to each unit of money - again incentivize you not to use it, though there will of course be a carbon credit free monthly allowance to make uptake of the new systems more palatable
