Does it connect to the moon?!

It's going up the side of a mountain. They're probably only 20ft off the ground.

Yeah, I totally wouldn't want to fall off, especially without snow on the ground.

See my other post where I linked to the videos of this chairlift, they seemed to have terraced the slope under the chairlift a bit both to avoid landslides and help maintainence. If you did fall you'd break your legs and have to wait for help, but you wouldn't go careening down a boulderfield or anything.

Ski lifts are still like this.

[ - ] bonghits4jeebus 6 points 2.5 yearsNov 13, 2022 22:24:10 ago (+6/-0)

That's why all the states that have snow sports have special laws that say you can't sue ski resorts at least over the inherent dangers of the sport including riding lifts like this. You can't voluntarily get on it and then go "oh someone should have told me this is dangerous" lol which is the way it should be for everything everywhere.

Falling has nothing to do with being stupid.

[ - ] oldblo 0 points 2.5 yearsNov 14, 2022 01:03:03 ago (+0/-0)

Quite true. As a youth I almost fell to what would presumably be my death in the past. One moment youre fine and the next you find yourself falling to possible doom over something as simple as slipping. There was a buried chain link fence exposed that I recalled seeing several times. Dont ask me why a chain link fence was buried because I wouldnt know. I remembered it in a flash, twisted mid air, grabbed it, and screamed for help until I was pulled up. All because I slipped on the spot I had previously stood on multiple times before without the slightest issue.

Sounds like some smarts to me there.

The only sensible view. Everyone else: Oh my god, they are hundreds of feet off the ground.

I've only ever used the "button" kind where you tuck a disk attached to a pole in between your legs and it drags you up the mountain. They're kind of fun.

Also a furnicular a few times, those are also neat.

[ - ] Broc_Liath 1 point 2.5 yearsNov 14, 2022 01:10:41 ago (+1/-0)

Here's the actual chairlift in the OP.

1948 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zikyX1l3KCc
2012 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXIU7THUJCM

Not much has changed. The pylons are steel now rather than creosote logs. The chairs look like they have harnesses. I'd totally ride on it.

Ski lifts are still like that and the sign is depicting elevation from sea level. Height above the ground is still probably only 15 feet; the cameraman is just using a deceptive angle.

People post pictures like this to elicit dumb comments that align themselves with the intentionally deceptive post title. Shitty fucking misleading post done purposefully to demonstrate how fucking retarded the talklol userbase is.

It's a fun picture. Don't read too much into it.

hassled by some overbearing pig.

Back then if you were drunk and stupid the pigs would just kick your ass and take you home instead of giving you an arrest that ruins your life

I fail understand the "retarded" part.

[ - ] RobertJHarsh 0 points 2.5 yearsNov 13, 2022 21:26:50 ago (+0/-0)

Son of a bitch! Every year we go down to the Ohio State Fair and they have one of those and it's like 30 or feet of the ground and I hate the thing.

[ - ] Allienonymus 1 point 2.5 yearsNov 13, 2022 21:45:38 ago (+1/-0)

They're still like this. This is a deceptive angle but it's how they work today

[ - ] NuckFiggers 0 points 2.5 yearsNov 13, 2022 22:34:40 ago (+0/-0)

When I was a kid I got dragged up the ski slope after I fell off the T bar and it got caught on my glove. I was never in any danger but it was annoying. Since I was a kid it made me feel like Indiana Jones so I didn't call someone for help.

[ - ] Wahaha 0 points 2.5 yearsNov 14, 2022 04:56:19 ago (+0/-0)

People today would be too scared to get on something like this.

[ - ] usedoilanalysis 0 points 2.5 yearsNov 14, 2022 08:44:41 ago (+0/-0)

Um they're like 15 feet off the ground, not exactly a precipitous drop is it.

No snow? Checkmate global warming.
