Yeah, understand the 8.8.8.8 is using google, so you are better off using the cloudflare 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1
This should work in most cases, however, some ISP's have been caught hijacking DNS queries as well now, so you may want to consider https://developers.cloudflare.com/1.1.1.1/setup/#dns-over-https-doh or over tls if your router supports and you are still seeing issues.
yeah most people can't do anything with that info haha. these two dns servers are open, always up, and fast. otherwise you should absolutely use different ones that aren't tied to big corporate systems, you just have to be savvy enough to manage it when things aren't idiot proof or working all of the time.
more direct to your point, if your isp is hijacking DNS then changing the servers won't fix the problem. if it does fix the problem, your queries are going through the dns servers you have specified manually.
if you really don't trust your isp, get a hosted desktop and use that to browse the internet.
