I've been asking myself this question for a long time. Doctors have a halo of 'scholarship' almost bordering on omniscience. Unfortunately, the reality, for someone who keeps their mind and eyes open, looks completely different

Not stupidity, survival. They've devoted their lives to a single idea, medicine and healing and all of the sudden, after years of school and more school and practicing, the people they thought had their back are threatening to take it all away if they don't tow the party line and basically lie too their own patients. I've seen endless doctors quitting the practice of medicine rather than walk in socialism. They're put in a no win situation.
